ZALORA - Trading Manager

We are looking for a Trading Manager to sit in the Central Planning team with the objective to create and manage a strong and effective trading in season for the assortment, along multiple dimension and constraints. Given the variety of brands, shipment types, buying teams and countries we operate with, we need a driven and analytical individual to become the point of reference and the main initiator of all trading activities in season.

We are looking for a highly analytical and driven individual, with outstanding communication skills and strong negotiation capabilities, with the flexibility to adapt within a fast pace nenvironment and always solution oriented. The Trading Manager will also be responsible for the implementation of the newly created SLA and SOP within the buying team.

Reporting directly into the Planning Director, the trading manager will work closely with all the category teams across the region (mainly with the central team in SG), as well as with the marketing team (mainly with campaign manager which will act in a similar function for marketing).

Being a new role, further expansion of the team will be dependent on the actual impact on the business of the actions taken in the next season, Autumn-Winter 2017.

The role is based in Singapore, with possibilities of visiting MY, PH and ID once/twice a season.


  • Implementation of SOP across buying team to reduce number of campaign increasing the average revenue per campaign
  • Selling strategy for any Brand Assortment Strategy:  from the assortment point of view given buying decisions from category. Working closely with marketing: intake, phasing, new season push, end of season and big sales event
  • Seasonal Sales Planning:  Sign off of the seasonal sales plan, working with central planning and categories
  • Commercial Strategy: Single point of contact for Marketing, representing Buying and Merchandising, accountable for working with Categories to define a clear commercial strategy, accountable for working with Marketing to delivering on the requirements
  • Weekly Campaign Alignment:  Decision maker for the weekly campaigns based on trading meeting and other analysis from the strategic team
  • Responsible to inform the category with high level analysis on onsite performance, which will also be used to improve the campaign planning
  • Work with marketing on a consistent and relevant sorting strategy, as determined by commercial direction
  • Monitor customer acquisition and impact of assortment in the evolving customer base
  • Working closely with Pricing team to ensure inventory discount decision are pushed efficiently and consistently with the trading strategy


  • 3-5 yrs experience in merchandising with some marketing background preferably
  • Online experience required (basic knowledge of website, marketing channels, conversion, performance metrix, GA)
  • Experience in on-site marketing optimization, multi-brand and/or multi-category product experience
  • Experience on seasonal brand strategy preferred
  • Knowledge of the SEA markets and their seasonality
  • Previous management experience
  • Finance, marketing and outstanding inter-personal skills required
  • Individual looking for a career in retail or online, willing to learn on a daily basis
