Manager - Record to Report

This is an exciting opportunity to join ZALORA’s Business Services in Malaysia as one of its key leaders. Reporting directly to the Senior Accounting Manager, your focus will be on, Record to Report (75%), People Management (5%) Project Management (15%) and Performance Management (5%) The role is based in our Kuala Lumpur office.

Responsibilities:

1) Record to Report

  • He/She will be responsible to support Senior Accounting Manager in the delivery of the Record to Report strategy and process performance outcomes for Business Services. 
  • Support the transformation of the Finance Organization from a local based financial & accounting services organization to the Business Services.
  • Support the optimization and enhancement of R2R processes
  • Support the implementation of IFRS adoption within entities.
  • Implement processes standardization in collaboration with other teams
  • Support the implementation of internal controls within R2R processes
  • Driving team engagement and team members’ development
  • Responsible for month-end closing and ensure monthly financial statements is complete and done in accordance with agreed timelines
  • Reviewing inputs gathered in SAP for the posting of various types of month end close journals
  • Review monthly balance sheet reconciliation and follow up with Accountants on items pending investigation and garner business support to close open items and unreconciled accounts as per reconciliation policy
  • In-charge of monthly variance analysis with meaningful explanations.
  • Prepare statutory financial statements
  • Point of contact for external auditor for quarterly review, year-end group reporting audit, and statutory audit
  • Partners with the regional process owners such for the development of business service center as a value-added business partner.
  • Sharing best practices and provide support and guidance on major business changes and process transformation aiming to reduce finance wastage.
  • Implement process efficiency activities that will deliver measurable and quantifiable process efficiency improvements, higher employee engagement and ensuring business partner satisfaction.
  • Implementation of sustainable knowledge management and documentation processes on existing processes or new processes integrated into the BSC.

2) Project Management

  • Support and follow through of the set of rules and guidelines for Record to Report process management, to be implemented throughout Zalora. 
  • Support the understanding of team members on deviations to standard processes, evaluated in a fact-based manner and supported with clear economic or regulatory need.  – Moving towards a Cost to Service principle for non-standard process designs to increase transparency of having varying solutions.
  • Ensuring R2R process designs and standards are incorporated in the Zalora Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Working with Cluster Business Functions, ensuring that local continuous improvement projects are aligned with the global process standards and strategy.
  • Become the R2R subject matter expert within Zalora Business Services
  • Supporting talent development of team members and retention by the involvement of the subject matter experts and/or super users within the various operating forums of Zalora.

3) Performance Management

  • Lead the planning and implementation of the Business Services service management framework. Owner of service performance scorecard according to SLAs and KPIs established.
  • Manage, guide and lead BSC Process Improvement team member to monitor and analyze performance measurement systems, procedures, controls and process policies.
  • Publish monthly BSC service performance scorecard and conduct regular service performance survey to understand service expectations and ensure continuous satisfaction from various Business Units.
  • Establishing and maintaining the working relationship across finance, technology and business partners as appropriate.
  • Delivering and managing sustainable and robust capacity management and visual performance management solutions for the center.

Requirements:

  • Chartered Accountant or Certified Public Accountant with affiliation to the professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA and MIA.
  • Knowledge of internal control, SAP system will be an added advantage.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Big 4 Accounting Firms
  • At least 4 years of experience in Record to Report (managing a closing process, finance and general accounting transactions) in a Business Services environment.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong knowledge in International Financial Reporting Standards
  • People Manager with experience handling at least a team of 4
  • Flexible with overtime as this role need to have a sense of urgency to meet the various external reporting deadline
  • Experienced in transition projects (from local entity to Business Services) and transformational projects preferably of finance and implementation of shared service best practices.
  • Demonstrates highly motivated strong teambuilding skills with self-motivation, problem-solving abilities, team spirit and a “hands-on” mentality.
  • Have strong computer skills and be proficient in MS Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Experienced working with large data-set, knowledge of SQL will be an added advantage.

Other Requirements:

  • Good business awareness, understanding of key interfaces and impact of Business Services initiatives on other departments such as Business Planning, Corporate Finance, Procurement, Treasury, Audit etc. is considered essential.
  • Excellent management, coaching and motivational skills are essential due to the complexity of the cultural environment and the diversity of working relationships.
